AGRICULTURE
Farming technologies developed by our growers are recognized and imitated by farmers around the world.
If the Pajaro Valley were a county, it would rank fifth in agricultural production in Calilfornia, even though only 55,000 acres are devoted to ag and timber. The top five products grown commercially are strawberries, apples, fresh flowers, lettuce and bush berries, but 55 other fruits and vegetables are also produced here. Only 7½% of the county’s total land is used for farming, yet it produces $200 million annually.
Pajaro Valley
The Pajaro Valley is first in the nation in Brussels sprouts and bush berry production. Over $100 million annually is paid to farm workers for planting, cultivating and harvesting crops.
